hmm. running out of ideas...
Are you using the 2D client?
Do you have the server and client patched up to the latest versions?

Have you tried editing other things that use the book interface, such as spawner entries?

I'm using the 2D client....

I do not have the Mondain updates yet as I'm waiting around for RunUO 2.0 *sits on hands* but I do have SE installed by disk.......And I do have the latest version of RunUO as I just redownloaded less than a week ago....I seem to be able to edit a regular spawner with the book just fine... There does seem to be a problem with the book closing on me if I over run a page during the entry... such as a story gump that requires multiple pages........

so you can do normal editing of spawner entries via the book, but it doesnt work for editing fields in the [xmledit gump?

The autoclosing of the book when you run over a page is a client limitation unfortunately, but it should reopen again on the next page after a brief delay.

Seems that way.......

I can of course make new entries... I just can't EDIT anything at all it seems.. not even to delete it.....=(

Hehe.... and I don't know about you but longer than 60 seconds is NOT a brief delay...=P .... when it closes it closes down til I hit the button again... then sometimes it either turns to the next page or closes again.... ?

definitely strange behavior. The delays between book closing and reopening to the next page should be like a fraction of a second.

Are you running the client and server on the same machine?

I would recommend patching the client to the most recent version.

Syntria- 06-03-2006
Yes I run the server and client on the same machine as it's currently a local server with just me and my hubby. (We're on satilite and get anywhere from 3kb Literally 3 kb to about 800kb at any given time... It sucks lol)

Any idea where I could patch the new client files? There's a download at Download.net for the Mondain Legacy client... would that work?

ArteGordon- 06-04-2006
You could start with the most recent download of ML and then run UOPatch.exe in the client installation directory to bring it up to the most recent, or just run UOPatch.exe now and it will do the same thing, it will just take a long time.

Ended up completely reinstalling UO:SE from scratch and patching it up to 5.0.2b(current client) The book works okay now, although when it comes to the end of a page, it flips over but the main [xmledit gump pops in front of it and starts typing in the Proximity Range box....Otherwise the pages turn over just fine...lol

yeah, thats a client thing. Just have to get use to hesitating when it page flips.

glad the client upgrade took care of it.
