The Nameless Woman

By Mauzen | October 14, 2013

Pulls a book from his bag, opens it up and begins to take down his thoughts:

Quote:

Sitting there in the study hall of the Academy I go about my business, practicing spell casting. I don't even notice her at first. She steps closer. I still don't notice her. She coughs. I look up, seeing a woman I have not seen before. “Vendui, My name is Mauzen Zhau'nil.” I speak calmly and smoothly, trying desperately to convey ease and friendly intentions. “I mean no harm or ill will.” I finish. “It's risky business giving away your name so freely. There is much power in a name.” I look at her curious as to her meaning. She steps in front of the desk I am sitting at and leans over. I lean back. “Do you mean me harm?” I ask tentatively. “Hmm?” She reaches forward and brushes her hand across my cheek. There is a draining feeling, I feel slightly dizzy. I shake it off. “Did I say I was going to harm you?” She leans forward getting very close to my neck, I can hear her lips part. “I would not taste very good...” She leans back, a surprised look on her face. “Who said anything about tasting?” she smirks. “No one, just merely stating. She turns around and casually looks through the books on the shelf, muttering “There has to be a hex in here somewhere involving names...” She looks back. “Until we meet again, Mauzen...” Saying my name as if tasting it. “I am sure we will meet again.” “I am sure we will too.” I reply as she steps down the stairs.

I sit there, unable to really grasp what has just gone on. Who was she, why did she not tell me her name. Maybe because I didn't ask. Though that didn't seem right, normally an introduction is met with a similar introduction. I sit there pondering. Perhaps Master Vuradin will know, I think to myself. All I could think of, was that I had to know who she was.

The next day I informed Master Vuradin of my encounter. I couldn't recall the woman's appearance. Only that she had dark skin, wore some sort of dress. I even recalled the color wrong. Master Vuradin informed me to be more careful, as there were those who would do us harm if they were inclined to. I took his words to heart, determined to try and gather more clues.

Olath Ssin

By MarcieEve | October 13, 2013

Sasha slowly looked down to the dark inky pool in front of her. The smell of blood reeked in the room, skeletons and bones littered around, the sound of something dripping, constant in the room. "I was told to meet her here... at this gateway." She looked over to him in surprise. "Wait, she knows we're coming?" The brief grin on his face was undeniable as he chuckled before responding. "She knew we were coming the moment we went under. She is over three hundred years old." With that he looked up sharply as the woman appeared seemingly out of nowhere, instantly he dropped to his knees bowing his head to the ground. She watched him in shock for a long moment before glancing to the new woman. Cold eyes stared back at Sasha, the dark form beautiful and unmoving. After soft prompting from Vuradin, Sasha slowly lowered herself to the ground as well in an attempt to imitate him.

"Your son has returned." He says to the woman softly, the rest of the conversation switching to Drow. "Speak properly boy." Forgive me mother. Tis I... Vuradin. "Vuradin is the name of a Drow, you are no such thing." Sasha peeked up between them now, wisely quiet for the moment. Vuradin slowly removed the book from his side taking much care to remain kneeling low before the matron as he placed the ancient tome upon the stone floor in front of him. "Here, now you will know all." Sasha's soft protests were drown out as he shot her a sharp look. The matron slowly flipped the pages with her foot as she watched his life above the ground, taking specific interest in the section where the demi-god Trance changed him into a human. With that her foot lifted up as she kicked him into the wall, hitting his shoulder. Sasha looked between them in shock instantly raising to her feet and going to him worried. "Vuradin!" He instantly returned back down to his knee as the matron stepped closer to the two. "Silence!" As Vuradin raised a hand attempting to keep her back, "Sasha no." She faltered back a step, looking between them falling silent instantly as the matron grabbed Vuradin by the collar. "You wanted to be free of us?" I...I never belonged. You knew it. From the day I was born... you knew it. "You filthy my name." Sasha glanced to her now, worried lifting her hand slightly to the woman watching her closely. "Mother..." The matron froze in place, momentarily speechless, the same word echoing once on her lips. Vuradin swallowed looking up to his mother as well. "Sasha... Is my wife." Yes. The matron's hand instantly tightened on Vuradin's neck, blocking some air supply. Sasha looked to him feeling the space between them almost painful as Vuradin chose to not resist. "You want not to be Drow, but you want her to be?" Sasha watched him pleading him to allow her to step closer. "I will take her to replace you." I love her. "Now leave!" The matron easily tossed him down the hall as Sasha watched on in confusion obviously not understanding much of the conversation. Within a moment the matron had grabbed her and disappeared back through the gateway with her, leaving Vuradin alone in the room a single word echoing through Sasha's head as she vanished. "No!"

A Letter to Vuradin Tormtor

By Delia | October 10, 2013

Dear Vuradin,

The Academy has gained a new student whom I believe would be perfect for your assistance. His name is Mauzen Zhau'nil, a Drow from another realm, who is interested in strengthening his arcana and learning Sorcery, as well as alchemy and herbalism. He is a scribe, working in Narrowhaven, and was a diplomat in his own lands (which were destroyed). It is my thought that you would be the perfect mentor for him, and for helping him gain a foothold within the lands.

If you could let me know a good time for you two to meet, I will set it up between you both.

On a more personal note, I hope you and Sasha are doing well. You should come by more often!

Sincerely;

~ Delia ~

Warning for gathering!

By Talow | October 8, 2013

We have plans to make small changed for gather classes/skill.

This is in direct response to the players that just can't follow rules but is still cool in it's own right(s).

When gathers go out (not yet but soon) and us a pick ax a normal one. It will have a very low but probable rate of spawning a monster.

Same idea when you go out to chop down that tree.

This is by no means something that says you are allowed to AFK gather your stuff as it is still a rule here that you can not do so. This is going to just be something to help us not have to focus on this.

I am going to also clear up the punishment that is currently linked to the rule and post that as well.

Attack after life.

By Talow | October 7, 2013

I was escorting a friend to the after life and having a lovely chat. We entered and soon he moved past the first stage of it. I was not allowed to follow him there, I'm not allowed to follow anyone there.

I turned around and started my way back to the world of the living, I saw Merrick for a moment. He returned to the world of the living rather quickly, he wasn't ready to stay in the after life, few ever are.

Something stranger happened after that, I saw the face of a red. This darn magi from another world again. This is getting old, but now I see him here? Something strange must be happening, I'm sure of it. I know he could be dead, is dead really, but not dead either, yeah lets not go into that now, back on topic Trance. We still haven't....

Oh wonderful, a second of a few unsavory places all showed up, the monsters stayed while the land around them disappeared...

A planer shift? Why would someone want to transport living....

Oh my this is bad... Must fix, must fix now!...

Oh good you look like a lot that could handle yourselves. I said to a few people sitting around the well by the bank of a well formed town.

I went on and didn't really wait for them to answer much, this needed to be fixed, and fast. There are some creatures taking up residence in the first stage of the after life. We need you to kill them, Life on this world is at stake.

I didn't have the heart to tell them if they didn't fix it no one would resurrect again. They didn't seem to need to hear it either. They all quickly went through the small rift I made for them to the after life. They where living too so they should be able to kill the monsters, even here. Keith and Merrick slue one of the mongbats. It didn't get up, it's friend wasn't too happy, but I was.

They worked their way through the area that was infected by the living. I let them be on the journey. I couldn't interfere, it wasn't like another god, demi or otherwise was doing this. I watched waited. Please find them all I said to myself. I don't want something else going bad! I said nothing to them but I was screaming the whole time.

They eventually killed every one of the beasts, I was glad to see it.

You have killed them all. It's a wonderful job you did. There is on part left of this quest. Get out! Maybe I was rude, but they where just as dangerous as the creatures that where slain. I watched as one recalled, and another just left from what remained of the rift I had opened. Either way the current threat was settled.

My real concern now was learning how someone could have done this. Was it deliberate? Lets start with a who shall we first? Well the red face showed up right before it happened...

But could he really cast a spell that could do a plainer shift? Who knows... he's from another world, Maybe Delia would like to add this to her list of questions for me? Lets go find out.

The singing emerald

By Peppero | October 4, 2013

The singing emerald

As the red lady one of this days walked around the city, a really strange courier approached her with a delivery. He walked around with little jumps now and then, seeming quite scared and at the same time curious of his surroundings. When he spotted her, he quickly ran towards the lady, stopping right in front of her, perhaps too close for human standards. His clothes were all mangled and muddy, and with effort and deep rough voice, as it was rarely used, he said "A package for lady Scarlet". Not giving her time to even reply or question him, he just threw a small dirty box to her arms, and ran away, seeming quite happy to had gotten rid of that thing. It was the first time that that boy appeared in the town and the last aswell.

.....

The first thing you would notice about the dirty box was the horrible stench of rotten fish coming from its inside. If brave enough, you would open it and get prized with a small fish head, its eyes missing and all chewed up here and there, and to add more to its fabulousness' it was all sticky with a strange mucus. As you disgustedly peered into that fabulous gift, suddenly a green emerald bug would get out of the head through one of the eye's holes.

Opening its wings it started singing. It was really hard to take something out from the strange song, and only someone that already had heard that type of vocabulary before would understand. Mixed with the strange words there were other background sounds. The voice was singing and at the same time not singing, it was hard to tell with the horrible pronunciation and hoarseness of it. If it was not for the hypnotizing fairy echoes that followed every sentence it pronounced, the lyric would be hardly titled a song.

"Moh os troppod. Thoy don't lot moh go owoy!"

The voice stated in a angry tune, and the next sentence was followed by a desperate and frustrated one

"Con yoh holp moh?... No.. Of coorso yoh con't... Moybo yoh woll not ovon coro... "

The next sentences were only strange grumbling annoyed noises, followed by the rest of the song that seemed more hopeful.

"Bot moh wonts to como bock, moybo ono doy moh woll bo oblo to,
ond whon moh doos ot, moh woll fond yoh ogoon!
Oko? Okooooo?
Of moh doos ot, con moh hovo fosh hood? Hm?
Boyboy!... Boyboy
*Burping sound* "

After the little bug repeated itself more 3 times, it shrank itself, its wings and legs fell down off its body and it transformed into a beautiful bright green emerald.

It seemed the little gremlin wasn't able to forget easily her past.

Eyes of the damned.

By Trance | October 1, 2013

It isn't easy, being back.
I lived, I left. Now I'm here again.

Sasha lead me back. I still can't call this world home. I miss my mother.

I looked down on Scarlet as she tended with the two men of her life, another demi god and a spoiled mage of another world.

Scarlet was my Famous Monster no more, and even she is able to see this now. I felt sorry for her.

These eyes of mine, showing me things to change, fix.

Yet always I have to follow my mothers rules. "Ask first, don't just do. We can change it as we see fit, but they are the ones to live in our creation."

The egg. She thinks I don't know what it is. Silly mortal.

Still with all the bickering in that house and the task of the spoiled brat, I couldn't just leave her there, and she did finally accept my help.

"Come along Scarlet".

I took her where I shouldn't. But at least here there would be only one threat, and one I could deal with for her, at least for now.

I didn't have the heart to tell her. Not yet but when it comes right down too it, Scarlet might be the only hope for this world's surface...

...If she can learn to love...

...the unlovable.

A Letter to Forge Kade

By Delia | September 29, 2013

Dear Mister Kade,

On behalf of the Narrowhaven Academy of Arts, I wish to make a request. We are seeking obsidian stone in large amounts. The purpose is to tile three rooms within the Academy for the protection of rare and potentially dangerous artifacts. This could be quite a lucrative job, if you are capable of finding the amount we will need, and capable of installing it.

Currently I am in Moonglow, on a research study. However, if you have questions or wish to seek me out, I will be returning in approximately a week's time to check on business at the school. If need, you may send me a letter here, addressed to the Lycaeum, where I receive mail in my office.

It is my knowledge that obsidian may be found in large amounts around lava, if that is any help. You may need a professional to find it, as I am unsure of your knowledge of the stone, and it needs to be in large enough quantities to pare down into tiles.

Do let me know as soon as possible if you are capable of this! You come highly recommended.

On a side-note, I am interested also in installing the strongest jail bars there are over a lovely oubliette we have here. You may need to come look at it to give an estimate. Since the oubliette will also be tiled, you may need a professional cave diver to find the bottom - we haven't yet.

Sincerely;

Baroness Delia Blacke
