Malakai’s Musings

He stood watching an exchange between a few people in the crafter hall. He’d never seen them before, so it was mildly interesting. One of them even offered him food. Malakai isn’t one to turn down food when offered. Especially free food. Hoping for perhaps more food, he followed them around a bit. One man seemed to be crafting a few things, while the others stood and watched.
The female was the most interesting. She had made the Drow man give him food. There was something pleasant about looking at her too. He wasn’t sure what that meant, having learned more about magic then interaction with the opposite sex, and filed it away for later inspection. He was brought out of his thoughts when the woman asked if there was something that the she could do to assist him.
“I seek power, so if that is something you could assist me with, then yes?†He stated, tilting his head.
Things happened somewhat quickly then. The woman stated she was magic. Interesting. She mentioned a missing student, which interested him more learning that she was a teacher. Learning from an embodiment of magic surely meant power. He inquired about her student, expressing interest, and then the Drow man transformed into some type of colossal creature. This also seemed very powerful.
The woman seemed annoyed, but gave care of a new student to the man in his eagerness to display power. Even so, the woman sauntered over to him, hips swaying with a purpose.
“So, what would you do with this power, once you’ve gained it?†she asked, smirking her lips, eyes intent on his.
“I’m not too sure yet. I was merely sent out with the requirement of gaining power. I can’t return unless I do,†he stated, eyes glassy and bloodshot, a small lazy half-smile growing on his lips.
His head swam, his vision spinning as his head suddenly jerked around.
“Wipe that stupid smile off your face. People without passion disgust me,†she fumed.
He had felt the impact, but the pain was numbed by the medicine. Really all that was left was confusion. This seemed to exasperate the woman even further, causing her to abandon him to his thoughts. At least she told him how to contact his new teacher before she left…
He looked over the morsel in his hand, hating it as always, but still a slave to it in the end. He shrugged his shoulders before popping it into his mouth. At least sleep would come quickly.

Repairs Complete

He tied the horse off an made his way inside, checking into the commotion. He walked in to the sight of a woman's rump, wiggling this way and that in leather pants as she worked at the flooring of the building. He grunted, running a hand down his beard, straightening it as he assessed the situation in the bank. The woman had already begun tearing up the broken flooring to move new planks into place.
"Ah suppose yer 'ere ter 'elp wit deh repahrs dehn?" he called out, moving around to inspect the hole. He didn't really pay much attention to the conversation, something about her being an understudy to some carpenter or another he'd never heard of. Regardless, as the time progressed, he noticed that she did great work. The flooring took a few hours once the foundation was repaired. Then it was onto the wall.
Korr began to methodically lay the stones out into place, in order to help get the wall up a bit quicker. The woman complained about the shape of the stones. Korr merely shrugged, not knowing there was any difference. She set to work with a quickness, moving stones into place and reshaping the wall with his help. They worked in silence, settling into a groove. They made a good team. Korr even stated that and she had agreed.. Her name was Wood. Which he'd remember since she told him not to get excited thinking about her. She was nice enough in the body, but not enough thickness.
A woman needs some good cushion for the pushin', Korr thought with a grin, leaving the bank with less stone, and in full repair.

Tzurei – Returning to the Sewers

"Even if I knew how to get home... It would likely get me killed. I just don't know. Maybe I can find something down here.."
And so he worked his way through corridors and archways, trying not to breath the acrid rotten air. Here and there he found a large rat scurrying into the shadows, and even some rather large toads.
After walking for what felt like hours, Tzurei happened upon several alligators, that were feeding on a dead toad. "Not good.." He said as all of the gators turned to face him, hissing dangerously. "Easy fellas..." As he pulled his harp from his pack and began playing a gentle tune, some of the reptiles calmed, and even stopped. But others kept coming, probably the ones that got little or no toad.
Backing up quickly, he suddenly finds himself cornered. With a clumsy hand, he recites an incantation, and a small swirling ball of fire forms in his palm. Tzurei's meager understanding of magic would certainly not be enough to stop these pursuers. The fireball lands against the scaled body of one of the alligators, slowing it for a moment, but ultimately making it more angry.
Seeing the lack of effectiveness, Tzurei quickly dives to the nearest corridor. Turning back toward the gators he recites another incantation, this time summoning a field of fire which blocks the pursuit by the carnivorous reptiles. "Alright... I'm getting out of here. Time to find some friends to give me a hand." He smiles a bit as he moves quickly through the tunnels, but who would he get to assist him...
The answer came to him a few hours later, as he wandered a forested area outside of Varstaad.
Just ahead of him in the clearing, a pack of timber wolves were gathered, playing or relaxing perhaps. Either way, he knew this was a good opportunity.
As he walks into the clearing, he is already playing his harp, the wolves look up to the source of the sound. In a soothing voice he begins .. "Hello, friends... no need to be alarmed." They just stare at him seeming confused about the situation. "Excellent, just remain calm. You know if we joined forces we could be mutually beneficial to one another." As he says this, he pulls a large cut of meat from his pack and throws it to them. "You see? I can provide plenty of meat for you..."
To this, the wolves respond graciously. Suddenly it is as if he is one of the pack. The creatures playfully wag their tails and greet their new friend. Tzurei seems to bond easily with the animals. "Come, my new friends... We have some things to handle..."
With a smirk, Tzurei walks along with his new pack, toward their next adventure.

Misadventures in Mythndale

The cellar itself was unassuming, cobblestones pocked the dank and dirty floor, but it was what lie below that caused the most intrigue. Rowan looked at the off colored stone in the corner, darker and larger than the rest, smirking as he pushed it away and looked down into the darkness. turning to the forman, he pulled out a large bag of coins and wordlessly tossed them to the man, immediatly returning his gaze to the darkness.
"Is eet all er?" said the forman
"see for yourself" said Rowan without looking back
The hiss of escaping gas immediatly followed as Rowan covered his nose, "it would not do for people to know of this tunnel and its secrets" thought Rowan. He had already sent Cedric to dispose of the other workers, but Rowan took sick pleasure in dispatching this man himself. "If you want things right you must do them yourself" he thought. The gas was subsiding then as rowan replaced the stone and turned to inspect the now still man. Cael had done well with the poison trap, and now all that was left was to dispose of the body, and Rowan knew just the man to help...
