Misadventures in Mythndale

By RobbIronwood | December 9, 2013

Business was good at the Brass Tankard, and its proprietor Rowan Drake couldn't be happier. Yes business was good, but not in the way many might think. Despite all of the attention and praise Rowan had been getting for his food and stitchwork, Rowan was most happy about the new addition to his humble, cozy tavern. Beneath the floorboards laborers worked tirelessly to complete Rowan greatest achievement. It only took them days to complete what would become one of the greatest criminal inventions the Lone Islands had ever seen.
The cellar itself was unassuming, cobblestones pocked the dank and dirty floor, but it was what lie below that caused the most intrigue. Rowan looked at the off colored stone in the corner, darker and larger than the rest, smirking as he pushed it away and looked down into the darkness. turning to the forman, he pulled out a large bag of coins and wordlessly tossed them to the man, immediatly returning his gaze to the darkness.

"Is eet all er?" said the forman
"see for yourself" said Rowan without looking back

The hiss of escaping gas immediatly followed as Rowan covered his nose, "it would not do for people to know of this tunnel and its secrets" thought Rowan. He had already sent Cedric to dispose of the other workers, but Rowan took sick pleasure in dispatching this man himself. "If you want things right you must do them yourself" he thought. The gas was subsiding then as rowan replaced the stone and turned to inspect the now still man. Cael had done well with the poison trap, and now all that was left was to dispose of the body, and Rowan knew just the man to help...

The Escapee

By Alpmara | December 5, 2013

The terrified, exhausted man scrambled through the trees and scrub as he saw the portal opening, and the visitors that came from it. He wasn't a brave man. Matter-of-fact he spent most of his time on the floors scrubbing, and the majority of that being mocked and kicked about by the others. When found a bush to hide behind, he stopped and looked back, watching the visitors, but only spent a few moments watching the carnage before racing away to save his life. Far on the other side of the beach were several boats. He was the only one who made it back to them. He leaped in and quickly began rowing away from the death. He had to make it to the main camp, and prayed the small vessel would survive the tumultuous waters.

Tzurei – Keeper of Balance

By MadHatter | December 3, 2013

Crystals and mushrooms and glowing bits of plant life cover the rock walls and ground. The sounds of chaotic 'negotiations' and 'debates' can be heard echoing from the nearby civilization.
But here, is nature. Here, is peace.
And here... is a man...

Sitting alone by the light of a campfire, in the 'wilderness' of a place known to the surface world as; "The Underdark". Tzurei had never been one for the ways of the 'Drow' (As he later learned his people were called). A fussy bunch, with a social structure that didn't fit his plans for life. His life. The life given to him by -Nature- herself.
So he spent much of his time with the creatures that also inhabit the Underdark. Playing his music and practicing minor incantations. A true friend of nature and balance.

This was Tzurei's way.

His people shunned him. Even attempted to kill him at times. Tzurei pressed on, stuck in his ways, never giving up his ideals for the old ways of his people. Tzurei dreamed of a new way, a way that the others did not believe in. One day while he enjoyed a freshly cooked cut of steak, Tzurei heard a sound.....

"It couldn't be ogres, could it? They never come down this far into the caves..." Tzurei stood and began to glance around the area. Then all went black. An Ogre Lord stood over Tzurei's motionless body, his blood splattered on the Ogre Lords large hand. A shadow stood some distance behind the Ogre Lord, presumably the driving force behind the Ogre's relocation.
But all of this was lost to Tzurei... On the verge of death, he was taken from his home land, and to a new realm.
It took several days for him to awaken... and where he found himself was quite a surprise.

The Drow man had been deposited into an unfamiliar sewer system. If they had wanted him out of the way... why not kill him? He didn't understand what was going on, and he didn't know this new place he was in, so he began to explore. "I don't understand how I got here... Where am I?" He thought to himself as he walked past countless sewer rats and slimes. He paid them little mind, and lulled any aggressive critters with his lute.

Soon he found a stairway. The stairway led directly out of the sewer system and into a large home.

"Who are you... and what are you doing in this house?" A voice said. Tzurei looked over to the doorway of the room that he had entered when he left the sewer. There stood a man by the name of Mauzen. "I... Am Tzurei. But I don't know how I came to be here... I am not even sure where HERE is..." Perhaps feeling sorry for the recently relocated Drow, or perhaps feeling some kinship... Mauzen chose to help Tzurei.
He showed him the main locations in the town, and explained that Tzurei was now in a place called Narrowhaven, before leaving him to his thoughts.

"I need to find out how to get back home... and I need to find out what happened to me... How I got here... and who was responsible." Resting on a bench near the Narrowhaven bank, Tzurei thought for a long time about what to do next. He knew that a new chapter of his life had begun.... but what he didn't know is where this chapter would lead him.

And so Tzurei's story begins.

A New Beginning

By kevin327 | November 28, 2013

Merrick had been travelling the lands .. seeking searching. After almost turning to the dark side and sliding a bit onto this "grayness" people seem to accept in these lands, he did not like what he was becoming. He took a journey to cleanse himself of the "taint" that was brought on him by certain godlike entities. Merrick searched long and hard and reached down into the depth of his soul and grabbed ahold of his true being once more. He has now vowed to seek the guidance of the light once more. He has vowed to crush the darkness that took his family, friends and lands of old. He will seek out all and any evil and drive it back to the depths in which it came.
Merrick sat in thought in his Fortress. He has decided to build another church, for it seems the other has decade and vanished from the lands... This church will house the ones who follow light. It will aid those who seek to push evil back to where it came. It will house the Army of Templar Knight. Merrick also realized this will be a long and hard fight for it seems the darkness has spread to the desert and the road to Narrowhaven from Mythndale. He will grow a force worthy of clearing the lands of this pestilence. Evil shall not walk about openly without fear of being driven away any longer.
Merrick stands and assembles his gear he had cleaned and oiled and prepares to head out and start recruiting strong men and women who will stand behind him in what will be nothing less than a long and hard fight against the forces of darkness.. corruption, "grayness" ....against all Evil

So.. begins a New Beginning....

Mauzen Zhau’nil

By MarcieEve | November 27, 2013

*A letter is left on the dining room table at his house. There is nothing special about how it looks, but it has a distinct smell to it. The smell is soft and dainty. Perhaps this note would look out of place in the room, perhaps it wouldn't even be noticed. It is there, regardless. A name is scrawled on the top: Mauzen Zhau'nil.*

I require three new dresses. One in blue, one in purple, and one in green.
If I am to stay I require a rocking chair as well.
Schedule deliveries of milk, for Ulshar.
I don't care where I stay until the new house is finished, but I require access to a mirror.
Due to the fact that Neira stole my hairbrush, I need a replacement as well.
Please ask Astra to feed my birds, for I don't wish to return home at the moment.
I have noticed that Sabi has not been using the bed upstairs.
If you wish me to remove myself from it you're welcome to come upstairs and try to make me leave.
Otherwise, please bring me dinner and juice when you have my request filled.

The Building of a New House

By Mauzen | November 26, 2013

Quote:

It seemed that my efforts were starting to pay off. While I may not have status or value in Drow society, I was no less a Drow. I must have a house to call my own. Strong females to lead the house, not an easy sort to come by. It seemed that perhaps I was wrong, the surface females seemed to be strong as well. While I may be in a position of Authority, it has always been in the back of my mind, House Zhau'nil. Perhaps in the coming days, the building of a new house, albeit a strange one, will give me the comfort and familiarity I have been looking for. I know that I will not be able to return to the Underdark, I will not be able to rejoin my people, but I have moved past that. I will be part of a strong house, no matter how hard I have to work to make it happen.

The Long Night….

By Mauzen | November 26, 2013

Quote:

The delivery was harder then I thought, it took so much effort I had to use poor Astra to share the load of the pain. The baby was born healthy, and Sasha appeared as well as she could. I spent the better part of the night healing and restoring her. It took much effort but I was able to help her. While my mind had been taxed, my skills tested. I knew that my job was not done. After Sasha fed the child and both were sound asleep I set to my next task.

Astra laying on the floor, I could not help but feel guilty for causing her so much pain, the best I could do was steal away the memories. At least she would not remember the pain. I picked her up and placed her on the love seat, making sure not to wake her or Sasha and the baby.

Now that I had handled most of the difficult part. My long watch began. I did not sleep that night. Working on warding the houses and the keep. Preparing paperwork and and announcement, or perhaps I should leave that to Astra. I'll let her decide. As I wondered around the house, making sure to gather what I could. Checking on the room and the three of them. I went to the keep and gathered Astra's children, bringing them to her, still sound asleep. The children slept on the bed with Sasha.

My mind is still in tatters from the night, I am so very tired, but I must press on. I prepare and drink potion after potion to keep myself going. The long night....

It Was All Just a Dream – Fafnir’s Story

By Rosario | November 25, 2013

Once upon a time, there was a place of wonder where fairy tales were a reality. In this world, many extravagant stories took place. Monsters were battled, true love ruled over all else, and distressed damsels were rescued by knights. Among these knights that rescued damsels and fought monsters was Fafnir Gale. Here, in this fairy tale world, he started out as nothing, grew into a knight, and even sprouted wings and learned to fly. After several years, he became a legend among this world of legends.

As all things do, however, Fafnir's days eventually came to an end. In one final battle to stop a great evil that has swept over the lands time and time again, this legendary knight gave his life to protect those he most cared about. Even so, the old knight died a legend and lived on in the memories of those he protected that day.

The monstrous being that had killed this beloved warrior was not done with him, however. This king of nightmares sent Fafnir into the darkest pits of his own horrors, and there he stayed, trapped for who knows how long. Eventually, he broke free after the creature's power had faded away and Fafnir awoke in a new place. He soon found that this town was called Narrowhaven. Nowhere in the kingdom he was from was there such a place, so the old, now fractured, knight was lost, far away from his home and his family.

Broken as he was, he discovered that this place needed a warrior, a protector from monsters and likely damsels to be rescued. While he was now changed and weakened after so many years in torment, he would make himself strong again to continue doing what he knew was just. Still, something clawed at the back of his mind. All was not well with the old warrior. Something had changed. Just what that was, however, would remain to be seen.
